Listen to the Music

Last night while pulling up to my driveway I remember Coldplay "Clocks" playing on the radio. When I turned my car on this morning, guess what was playing?!? "Clocks" What are the chances? Well unfortunately they are great, because the radio keeps playing the same songs over and over again. While it's fun to hear Wilson Phillips often and remember Aric Johnstone and the Walner brothers lip syncing to "Hold On" at an assembly in high school, it gets kind of annoying that the station can't pick other songs. I usually listen to 101.9 these days. I love getting to hear new music from Portland bands. But when I turn to other stations like 103.3 and especially 100.3 I hear the same music over and over. While I loved California Girls when I first heard it, after the 3,000th time, it's gotten pretty old.

Why are these stations not playing some old school hits? They don't even have to be that old. What about all the top songs of the decade? We've had some pretty good music over the years. At what point does a station determine that they will stop playing a song cold turkey? It seems like they play it 50 times a day and then all of a sudden you never hear it anymore. I should be a radio DJ. I would be so good at it. I need to get a new iphone hookup for my car so I can just be my own DJ.

In other music news, I just found out Hanson is coming to Portland at the end of the month and I REALLY want to go. Who wants to go with me? September 22nd at the Wonder Ballroom. Has anyone realized that they've come back? They're album, The Walk, is actually pretty good. Grooveshark them next time you're getting ready and you'll love it.
