Love Will Fall To The Earth Like A Crashing Wave

I hate Valentine's Day for one and only one reason... Juju hearts. They are the devil in the form of a heart-shaped cherry-flavored amazingness.
At least I am not at BYU anymore. Every time I would walk through the bookstore, past the candy section I would have to stop and get a 1/4 pound of these. While remembering the holiday was coming up I realized I might be able to avoid this temptation because so far the bookstore was the only place I found them. But on a quick stop to WinCo tonight to get sugar free dots (see at least I was trying to be good!!) I spotted them. Uh oh!

Luckily we rarely shop at WinCo and it's not very close to my house. So either my car will be putting on a few extra miles between now and Lovebirds day or I will show great restraint and avoid the constant temptation from my taste buds...

It's like when you pee after drinking a lot of water, and then you find yourself having to go a lot soon after. You broke the barrier. But if you hadn't gone, you would be fine. Well... I broke the barrier. My mouth tasted the cherry goodness. I am going to need some serious will power to resist the urge for more.

I know that sitting right outside of my room there is a bag with a few left in it (my mother and I may have gone a little crazy... and we may or may not have practically finished the "pay by weight" bag before we even got to the register. but that's beyond the point) and they are calling to me. I told them to wait until morning. Breakfast of champions.

Dwight Howard Farted And Then Smiled At Me...

My last week at BYU was a blur. I tried to think today about my last few days in Provo and I seriously couldn't remember a single thing I did... One thing I know I did one of the last weeks was go to the Jazz game with BYU Daily News media passes. This was my last chance and I just wanted to get the experience one more time. I went last year with Maddie when the Jazz played the Blazers. That was fun. Mostly I just wanted to get into the Blazers locker room and talk to Brandon Roy and Rudy Fernandez. Turns out I tense up in the presence of my favorite players. But it was just being on the court during the game. I had to take advantage of it one last time, so I arranged with a friend to go with me to the Orlando Magic game.

Rules are if you're going to sit on the court with the media you have to be holding a camera. We got busted for that one at the Blazers game. So this time we came prepared and both brought cameras to take video during the game. Turns out there weren't very many media people there anyway that night so there was plenty of room on the court. Plus they had designated a space for us so we got to sit where ever. Obviously we chose to sit next to the Magic bench. I love that the person I was with didn't care about the Jazz either.

Although the Jazz won, it was an exciting game. Vince Carter and Deron Williams were inches away from falling on me. I didn't know how to react. But my favorite was Carter doing his pre-game stretches right in front of me. He walked over to a few feet away from us and proceeded to bend over in stretch. Ya, that wasn't obvious... After the game we shot a few stand-ups and then went to the Magic locker room. And that is definitely where all the Magic happened. We had to stand and wait for at least 20 minutes waiting for Vince Carter and Dwight Howard to get showered and dressed. Howard took the longest by far. He would come out for one thing, go back into the shower, then come back a few minutes later for another thing. But he entertained us while doing this and while getting dressed so it was worth it.

It was a lot of fun. A great way to end my Daily News experience. I now am a big an of Dwight Howard and feel like we are best friends. He will tell you the same thing. He loves me.

Oh p.s. another highlight was seeing Hall of Famer, Patrick Ewing coaching for the Magic. He's a big guy!

BYU Football Needs Help

Last weekend ESPN College Gameday came to Provo. too bad they didn't come on a weekend where Lee Corso would have put on the cougar head. I was considering not going because i didn't like the idea of getting up at 5 am to wait in the cold for 3 hours for it to start. a lot of people slept in tents in the parking lot the night before. and i rained! haha. but my friends and i decided that we would just go around 9 and catch the last hour. it was perfect. and it was so much fun being there. i am glad i didn't miss out on this experience.

plus i even got a chance to go to the game. i am so glad i didn't buy an all sports pass this year. when i have been in town for a game, i have been able to go for frizee. i am glad i didn't pay to go to the tcu game. was a disappointment.

We're not in Kansas anymore... oh wait

Update:
I'm in Wichita.  At a semi good hotel.  Catching up on old episodes of The Bachelor of course.

Bad news:  As I was checking in to the hotel room, the front desk guy got a call from someone in their room complaining about bugs... and the front desk guy was explaining that the exterminator came last week... blah blah blah.  and said he would be willing to move him to another room or give him a refund.  right then I wanted to butt in and ask for a refund and spend $20 more for a nicer place.
Good news: I SEARCHED my room for any signs of bugs and could not find any.  So I will be able to sleep peacefully tonight (minus the noise from my neighbors.  I hope they go to bed soon.  And don't snore)

I sure love being poor!

Today's baseball game was fun.  It was good to see the team in person and not on a computer screen.  The Wichita State Shockers have a pretty sweet stadium and a half turf field.  the infield is turf but the outfield is grass.  Makes for an exciting game since more balls make it past the infielders quicker without grass to slow them down.  The cougs were ahead the whole game until the bottom of the ninth.  poor pitching on byu's part. and good hitting from the shocker's side led to a base hit to win the game.  too bad, because our starting pitcher did real well and left the game 5-2 in the 6th.  oh well. tomorrow's another day.  i hope it's warmer.

side note: byu fans could learn a thing or two from the shocker's fans.  there were so many of them.  and all loyal.  with their headphones on listening to the radio broadcast of the game while watching it in the freezing cold.  i sat by a group of older men that talked as if they follow every step of the team.  a doubleheader yesterday in 30 degree weather and a game today in 45 degrees.  that's true dedication.  but then again, i doubt there's anything better to do in this city.  from downtown, you can drive 10-15 minutes either way and you're out in the middle of nowhere...

(p.s. my neighbors were just talking about flava of love, i love new york, i love money... classic)

My Collegiate Life

This:
just isn't doing it for me.

On Wednesday it was so warm here. It reached 70 degrees at one point in the day! As I stood outside to brainstorm outdoor activities so my skin could benefit from some Vitamin D, I realized something.

all i really wanted to do was drive my car to byu and walk into larry miller field and watch byu play baseball. but alas, byu is a 20 hour drive from my apartment.

So... I have two trips coming up to solve the problem.

Trip #1 - Wichita, Kansas

Sunday I will drive to KC and stay overnight. Monday will make the 3 hour trek to Wichita (home of the shockers)
Weather is looking promising - forecast is a warm 64 degrees for both Monday and Tuesday!

i look forward to seeing the team play in person and enjoy some good sun.

BUT... it's still not miller field

So... Trip #2 (99% set in stone)
Provo, Utah! i never thought i would be so excited to go to provo. and i thought i would be able to live without byu baseball for one season because i have the freakin st louis cardinals out here! but the season hasn't started out here and i am dying...
So mark your calendars for March 12-15th. i will be at the thursday, friday and saturday games. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
and i'll eat at gurus, and cafe rio, and five guys, and joe vera's, and zupas. mmm!!!!
So if you want to see me, i will be at those places or the stadium. and maybe her aparment.
BUT i WILL cancel the trip if the weather isn't at least 50 degrees, but i would appreciate 60 or 70 degrees.

i can't wait to go! thanks to mom for donating some southwest credit! :)
