Baseball

Today Jake and I went on some errands after the Cardinals game. On one stop at the bank the teller asked him what he was up to today. Jake responded with one word - baseball. For the wild card game and games 1 and 2 of the NLDS I have been scheduled to work and have tried to get creative with asking people to pick up parts of my shifts, using half of vacations days, taking my lunch during the games... But I have the next 2 days off and I plan to do not much more than watch baseball all day and I couldn't be happier!

I am so excited my Cardinals are back in the postseason again this year! It's so exciting to see my team do so well. Especially since Pujols left us. People thought we wouldn't be as great. But look as us now. We're up 2 games to 1 in the NLDS against the team with the most wins in the regular season. Carpenter is fresh off his surgery and pitching shutout games. Wainright is back in our rotation this season. Did anyone else feel nostalgic watching Yadi run up to Waino on timeouts. That's the exact picture of the final out of the World Series in 2006 when he was our closer. Garcia was pulled early in game 2, but no worries. Lance Lynn took over and did well. Our bullpen is reliable. Our offense is amazing. Chris Carpenter was a foot short of knocking a solo hr in game 3.  Freese had 2 standup doubles and is still reliable at the plate. Kozma hitting a 3-run homer today. Nice to have a solid shortstop. Beltran knocking 2 HRs in game 2. What a great pickup he was last off season. Sorry Berkman couldn't stick around long enough for the after party. I am excited to see how far Matheny can take this team.

I just hope I can afford it all this year!

Robbed

On my wonderful vacation to New York and D.C. (which I will post about soooon) I was robbed by a ghetto fab girl. Jake and I were in a rush to catch trains to meet up with one of my old roommates from BYU. We had to go back to her place to get our car keys that I left in her car the night before. We were rushing because we were trying to get out of the DC area as soon as possible to skip traffic on the way to Baltimore for the Ravens game. So I'm running into the train with my phone in my hand and we make it. I sit down and slip my phone into my purse in a semi outside pocket. All trip I had been super cautious about where my phone was in my purse. We spent a lot of time on crowded trains and I was weary of my stuff being snatched. Well this time I wasn't thinking. And quite frankly at this time I wanted it more accessible. All trip I was using a new purse that seemed to be a freaking never ending abyss. So I was constantly digging through my purse in a panic searching for my phone.

So we hopped off one train and proceeded to the escalator to catch the next one. It was super crowded on the escalator and we were crammed together. About halfway down I remembered my phone so I grabbed my purse to look and I see immediately that my phone is gone! Right at that moment a girl pushes past me and hops on a train about to close it's doors. I tell Jake and he says, yeah yeah it's in there somewhere. (Later I find out if I hadn't "cried wolf" so much that week, he would have believed me right away... Great) I say, no. That girl just stole my phone. I burst into tears. Allll my pictures from the trip were on that phone. So many fun photos and memories gone instantly. The next hour or so were super stressful trying to talk to unfriendly and in no way helpful transit security, trying to talk to Apple to get more iCloud storage so my pictures would be saved, (I have been getting a message the past few weeks that my storage is full and I need to delete things...) and trying to remember people's phone numbers off the top of my head to contact them on Jake's phone. Jake is a super saint for putting up with me this whole time. At any moment I could just burst into tears and when they started, it took awhile to stop. He's amazing. He was handling all the phone calls with Apple and the transit security. I don't know what I would have done without him!

We did the whole track my iPhone thingy and saw that in fact it had been stolen because it was at a residence. It wasn't just left on a train or dropped somewhere. So there's the end of that phone. Too bad. Because I had just placed a sweet NASCAR sticker on the back. Guess I'll have to get a new one!

This is us on our way up to Baltimore post phone issues.

So in the mean time contact me on my old number (971) 570-6252. Don't try and text my 503 number right now. I won't get it. Just phone calls. We have a prospect for someone wanting to trade phones so I might have a new one this Friday! Caaan't wait!

My Best Friend's Wedding

One of my best friend's got married this weekend. Kelli and I have been friends since Kindergarten at Hiteon. Loooong time. Most of my memories from my early years involve her (good and bad!) I have loved rekindling our great friendship back here in Portland post college.

I also got to watch her relationship with Brian grow up here too. In fact, I pretty much pushed it along further. Brian had a studio apartment up here in Portland but was spending very little time there. I moved into his studio and took over the lease so he could officially move in with Kelli into her fun little apartment in NW Portland. Living only a few blocks away I spent a lot of time over there. Those two are PERFECT for each other. Which is probably why I pretty much full out bawled at the wedding when Brian was reading his vows that he'd written. That guy loves the crap out of Kelli and it's so exciting as her friend to see her score such an awesome husband!
I am excited for their future together! And can't wait to see what the future has in store for them!

I had such an amazing time at their wedding and being part of the bridal party. Thanks for letting me be apart of your special day Brian and Kelli!!
